Sporting culture missing

The recent champions trophy has concluded favorably with India winning the tournament after a gap of 12 years. The tournament would be remembered for reasons other than sporting though. Cricket had many a times served to thaw diplomatic impasse between both and the epithet cricket diplomacy was coined for it Cricket rather the bcci’s dominance over the sport has become a jingoistic rhetoric in itself and serves the political narrative Presented along with the bleak economic outlook of Pakistan, it is an ego massage for a system which has few accomplishments to demonstrate. Cricket the game of gentlemen is losing its character and consequently the Indian society especially its youth are being deprived of its pacific effect along with the professionalism it could inspire. The emergence of Afghanistan as a cricket team is a reassuring takeaway from the tournament.
