As the Gaza conflict approaches two years, the humanitarian crisis it has brought is unprecedented. It is not unprecedented for the scale of casualties or cruelty, colonial era has seen bigger and more inhuman genocides.
Yet Gaza is the greatest challenge before the collective consciousness of the world, because it is the determined extermination of a miserable and hapless population, by the most powerful force of modern world, for a tiny piece of land which can easily be crossed on foot in a day.
The challenge is even harder when faced with the brave yet silent acceptance of its fate, that the 2 million residents of Gaza have demonstrated. And in the face of all this, when the entire world including the UN find themselves utterly helpless, not by any military threat, but the grip of economic dependence.
This means the entire world is in crisis, an ontological nightmare. While Gaza is losing its body, rest of the world is losing its conscience and Israel- US combine is losing its soul. As the genocide prolongs, the spectator’s agony is increasing.
Every day dozens of children are bombed, malnourished infants with wrinkled skin and swollen bellies, hospitals bombed, food aid denied, lines of aid seeking children are shot down and now a declared clearance by ground offensive.
Europe is worst hit, it’s still paying guilt money to Israel for the holocaust and now is recognizing the Palestinian state. The Arab nations are inexplicable. Oil wealth has not enriched them, rather it has enslaved them.
Yet Gaza is not complaining. More than 65000 dead bodies retrieved, countless lie under rubble and famine has hit 100% of the population.
Iran has been forcefully silenced, and Russia and China have been unable to rise up to the opportunity, to claim alternative pole status. The call for an Arab NATO is essentially an admission of guilt.
50 years back the impoverished Arabs stood up, but the filthy rich tyrannies of today, cannot. Gaza may be cleared of geography but would haunt the spirit of humanity for ages.
