The Bihar election drama is getting more intense, intriguing and is creating political equations that can affect the future discourse nationwide. The tension is palpable, with the entire politically sensitive population counting seconds, as the time for nominations for the first phase gets over tomorrow afternoon.
Both the coalitions have not been able to agree on seat sharing and identification. This has vitiated the political climate and the chess board has turned muddy. While on the INDIA alliance side, the issue is hung around some tough bargaining, especially between the Congress state leadership and the Lalu Yadav family, the issue in NDA is serious.
The partners are conniving and conspiring against each other. The bjp wants to undermine Nitish Kumar, and has allotted more seats to Chirag paswan, which some say would be used to field bjp candidates on LJP symbol.
Mr Manjhi and Mr kushwaha have already been shortchanged and are sulking. Nitish Kumar has realized the double game played by his lieutenants like Sanjay Jha and lallan Singh and the cadres are unsure about the alliance.
On the other hand in the INDIA alliance , as time is passing, the workers are getting restive and this may affect their morale. The vote chori yatra by Mr Rahul Gandhi had energized the cadres across the parties in the alliance and this tough bargaining at the last moment, and Mr Gandhi keeping his distance from the discussion is frustrating the cadres.
The common line is that prospective candidates have been asked to file their nominations and wait for the B forms. This strategy, leads to a situation where there are many rebel candidates left in the ring, who refuse to withdraw at the last moment.
Bihar has been a tough contest and last time, the gap between the alliances was only 12000 votes. Even after the SIR it is a tough fight. So such hassles should be avoided
