As the prime minister concludes his foreign visit the political discourse may resume its routine and well rehearsed cacophony around identity religion and collective sentiments. But the brief interregnum helped us to see what the politics is discussing elsewhere. Technology and its interactions with people their lives and livelihood and the institutions that enable and regulate these interactions. The world is on the cusp of yet another industrial and technological makeover we have seen to our misfortune are in abilities to interact with previous such paradigm missing out on the first industrial revolution lead us to two centuries of colonial rule missing out on the next cause us to languish in the third world. We somehow managed to find a delayed interaction with the computer revolution which is fast getting replaced with the AI and drone optics revolution. Technology is known to enable the able and if we want this current paradigm to enable our nation and masses our polity must become able to interact with it. The media needs to understand it and make it intelligible for the polity. Our leadership will be tested on this touchstone.
